Like Aziyade, Wazamba is also the result of painstaking research. This time, Marc-Antoine focuses on all the raw materials used in the beliefs of different cultures. Wazamba takes its name from a musical instrument used in the sacred rites of West Africa, the cradle of humanity.

Editor's Notes

Incense lies at the heart of Wazamba, not simply as a note, but as the material and memory around which the perfume coheres. Drawn from global ritual traditions, it appears here in multiple forms: essential oil, resinoid, heart extract, and CO₂ extraction. Each method unlocks a different tonal register: smoke, balsam, mineral grit, and dry spice, allowing incense to unfold in layers. Supporting this are fellow sacred resins: myrrh with its bitter, oily depth, and opoponax with its sweet, honeyed shadow. These are anchored by a trio of ritual woods: the creamy density of sandalwood, the resinous greenness of cypress, and the dry grain of cedar. Together, they form a liturgical architecture, evoking the rising plumes of burnt offering - where scent becomes medium, and smoke becomes message.
