Taylor of Old Bond Street St James Luxury Shaving Cream

I HAVE BEEN USING THIS LUXURY SHAVING CREAM FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW AND HAVE FOUND IT UNBEATABLE. I INTEND TO ORDER SOME FOR MY 91 YEAR OLD BROTHER NEXT CHRISTMAS . TOGETHER WITH YOUR SANDLE WOOD AFTER SHAVE - HE APPRECIATED THE LAST LOT I GOT HIM FOR CHRISTMAS. IT SAYS SOMETHING WHEN A PERSON HIS AGE APPRECIATES IT.

Having used same Taylor shave cream product for 40 years it is very disappointing to see change of product to a frothy aerated form rather than a semi-solid soap consistency. It's difficult to not put more than necessary on the brush so it's likely the change is intended to cause quicker re-purchase. I will be looking for alternatives.

Excellent cream. Have been using for years.

Smooth shave and very economical, do not need a lot of cream on shaving brush. Skin feels smooth and soft. Have been using this product for a number of years and always very happy with it. Ordering and delivery are never a problem with delivery very prompt.

This saving cream is by far the best shaving cream at a good price you can buy. Ive been using it exclusively for more than 15 years having purchased my first tub at a bespoke mens store in Jermyn Street. It produces a consistent lush foam that softens the beard & has a very pleasant fragrance. I've used other high end creams (gifts) but none come close to TOBS

The shaving cream is very very good and lathers up very very well and it is very soothing for your face as well when shaving and it soothe after sha ing as well

Having tried the TOOBS sampler pack and others in their range I've found this product to be one of their best. Razor glide is very good and no problems getting a lather.

Bought this for my husband for father's day. He says TOBS' shaving creams are very hydrating and he loves the citrus fragrance. It's just as good as some expensive brands that you find in exclusive men's stores.

At the risk of repeating myself the TOBS St James is another very good shaving cream. And to my nose it is the best of the citrus fragrances. Complex and interesting.

Consistency: 8.0 . Good typical cream consistency. No issues.

Fragrance : 7.0. Very easy scent though a little bland and vague.

Lather: 7.5 Ok to lather but not great. Did take a fair amount of cream and a bit of water to get an adequate amount of lather. Lather turned out to be rich and thick but started drying out by 2nd pass however I'm sure a bit of messing about with the technique you could solve any lathering issues.

Shave: 7.5. Good standard shave with this cream. Nothing really to report apart from the initial drying out.

Razor clog. 8.0 Fairly easy to rinse off razor while shaving. Better than many.

Aftershave moisturisation: 8. A reasonable amount of after shave moisturisation. Better than others and left the skin feeling adequately moisturised.

Overall: 7.5

Recommend? Yes. A good quality cream just let down by the vague scent and lack of easy lathering. Better than many but not up with the best.

This was my first try of the TOBS range, and I must say as with most of the TOBS-related reviews on the site, it stood up to the rave reviews. It is extremely soft and consistent out of the tub, and however you choose to lather, be it by brush or hand you won't be at a disadvantage. However, being so soft it is easy to scoop or use a bit more than usual so be careful. Although, a great excuse to buy more sooner! The smell to me though is certainly not "complex" and I would hazzard to say the description sounds more akin to a wine review than a shaving cream. Smells fresh and soapy to me, and not by any means unpleasant. Overall a great product and will not dissapoint.

TOBS St James Luxury Shaving Cream....The name says it all.The scent is absolutely heavenly.Lathers well like all of the TOBS creams.Provides a very comfortable shave every time without fail.Excellent value.Did I mention the heavenly scent?Another winner from TOBS.The sample pack of TOBS creams that MensBiz provide are the perfect way to sample the full range.Trying to pick out a favourite is the only downfall.This is definiely a contender.
