Follow the Hojari incense trail, as it sinks and ascends, expands and contracts, inhales-exhales. A spark of incense, pepper char and wood burn begins, followed by fruity-milky lactones as you’d find in peach and pineapple, with the sunlight tang of the latter, slightly green and even cider-like. This ebullent foam bubbles across the elegant surface of sandalwood, its creaminess restated with yet another blend of lactones, from stonefruit (and) now in the realm of coconut. Caramelised coconut milk, a trace of brown alcohol vapour, redolent of tonka bean and dairy - this reinforces both the milky fruit at the top and the buttery sandalwood in the heart. This settles on a darkened structure made up of patchouli, guaiac, and leather, while the pulses of incense, like a knot that ties everything together, never fades.
