Almond Suede completely lives up to the promise of its name, and then exceeds it. Its two notes are perfectly built - true impressions - though the moment you focus on one or the other, the nose soon alternates to its other. Even more than this, the mindful nose can’t help but note its magnificent complexity - eliciting a smile in the pleasure of fine detail and clever combinations. With the almond note, for instance, the sensation of torrefaction (consider: turrón, Spanish for nougat) is present, as is the sweet creaminess, greenness, florality, and fruitiness; furthered with exquisite honeycomb, vanilla, and orange flower materials, the sun shines beautifully on these materials, as if to infuse them. This warmth redoubled with saffron, it is the perfect conduit for this suede accord, lightly smoky with cistus, serious with French pine tar absolute. It is not shy. At first, there is doubt that these two notes can coexist. But the proof is in pudding: creating a fantasy of an edible, leather-suede - crafted in the tannery as much as it is in the confectioners, material is sublimated exquisitely.
