Oud Zarian feels like shifting fluids and textures; it uses powerful, high-impact materials that boom even at the faintest amounts, and makes them speak together at a sensible volume. Everything can be heard, and everything can have their say. Contrary to its name, Oud Zarian is not oud predominant, but rather, a study of gold molasses textures - from a whiff of burnt sugar, liquorice, maple and fenugreek. This class of sticky and resinous material tends to contain a flicker of something unnerving - leaning into savoury, spicy, smoky, darkly roasted, and the bodily warm - it happily encompasses the frankincense, tonka bean, ginger, and myrrh notes of the scent. Oud finds its place - among the wood, resin, smoke, and fetid traces. Piercing through this, a rose note as clear and bright as day, with fine citrus lift. Oud Zarian is a desiccated fragrance, upon which an amber shell - both hard and oozing - coats the scent.
