If the miraculous Cardinal (Heeley) is a celestial fragrance, then Eau Sacree has its feet firmly planted on the vibrations of the earth and the cool stones of a Gothic cathedral. Eau Sacree is meditative and inward, with a centre of balsamic resins and spices to devote one’s attention to. A generous yet dissectible whole, cistus labdanum imparts a chewy ambery feel, myrrh adds astringent sweetness, while olibanum is like a rush of pine-inflected sylvan air. Nutmeg provides the essential raspy facet, which is fine yet pungent, with woody and spicy-sweet-dry facets. It draws out the incense and resin notes whilst reinforcing the earthy woodiness of vetiver and patchouli. Additionally, it links the fragrance to an airy and hesperidic top that has an unexpectedly mossy feel, offering an impression of geranium. Surrounded in candlelight, Eau Sacree is warm and grounded. It has a discernibly aged quality, like a haunting and beautiful relic.
