L’Amandiere triggers an imagining: a springtime breeze that rushes through a field of green and yellow, collecting an aroma in its motions. The almond tree [amandiere] shivers – it exudes its sweet smell upon the gentle force of the breeze. The palpable softness and subtle verdancy of young almond tempers the intense green of hyacinth, whilst mint completes this green triad to formulate a balanced chord. This is a sprawling field of wild blooms, of latent life blossoming in spring: a tempting, aqueous, and mouth-watering vernal delicacy of florals.

Systematically composed, Heeley opts for Impressionism – its subject matter making it the natural choice. Against a vivid and intense background of stippled colour stands an unmistakable almond tree in blossom: its white tones leaping from the background, and it stems a gesture, rising up to the sky, the heat of the sun radiating from all around its crown.
