Esoteric but not impossible to decipher, O’Unknown works unusual combinations and sensations together. It asks us to imagine a fresh dryness, deafening silence, absent presence, cool warmth - doing so through a quiet blend of dry and desiccated tea, wood, moss, root and balsamic notes - all of this carried on vapours of steam. Attention must be paid to the paradox of orris butter, which indeed smells fresh even when it dries, imparting a texture to a fragrance unachievable through any other means. Its powdery and crinkly woodiness is expressive but at times fragile, more like lace than timber. O’Unknown is a scent to meditate with, to fuse with, asking you to proceed slowly, understanding every dimension of this old woody fragrance that at times calls to mind the mossy heart of a chypre, and even the simmering burn of an amber fragrance. It is melancholic but hopeful; uncertain but determined.
