Vanille Havane is a journey through the multiple olfactory facets of premium ‘gourmet’ grade black vanilla bean, revealing the depths and layers of this exquisitely complex perfume ingredient. This concentrate of sensuality heightens the senses by revealing all the mysterious facets of the vanilla pod, with milky, honeyed, amber, woody, spicy, animalic, and rum-like notes. Each of these facets plays its part, creating a voluptuous and addictive result.

Get to know Vanille Havane in three key ingredients:

Vanilla ‘mauvais’ from the Grande Comores island is a planifolia botanical species, uniquely cultivated on volcanic soil and cured differently. Why mauvais (bad)? This confidential production has never met the quality standards of the commercial vanilla industry exported from Madagascar. Les Indemodables have carried out an in-house vanilla infusion which enhances the unique qualities of this product, with olfactive facets that read as confectionary, powdery, and even slightly milky.

Rare cacao beans from confidential terroirs in Colombia, discovered in partnership with a master chocolatier. This precious material has been transformed in Les Indemodables' partnership laboratory to create a unique collection of cocoa extracts via ultrasound technology, known as acoustic cavitation. “We find olfactory inflections as varied as leather, castoreum, benzoin, honey, and milk” says Antoine Lie, Master Perfumer. The Colombian cacao extract used in the ‘Vanille Havane’ formula has specific facets: red fruits, almond, dark chocolate, and milk.

Jasmine is mostly used as an absolute. In creating Vanille Havane, Les Indemodables developed an exclusive extract that starts with the concrete and distils it (instead of mixing it with alcohol and evaporating to obtain the absolute). This brings a more powerful and facetted extract, noticeably enhancing top notes, which was the request of the perfumer. This technique is no longer used in perfumery, as it is tedious and very expensive.

Vanilla That Actually Has Plans Tonight

Vanille Havane is vanilla after it has paid its rent on time, invested in proper glassware, and built a friendly relationship with the bartender. If you are expecting cupcakes, whipped cream, or anything that belongs on a dessert menu, this is not your fragrance. This vanilla drinks aged rum, enjoys a well-cut cigar, and definitely has opinions.
The opening is boozy and confident, unfolding with rum like warmth, dry tobacco, and a subtle dusting of dark cocoa. Vanilla is present from the very beginning, but it refuses to be sweet or flirtatious. Instead, it feels dry, elegant, and slightly aloof, the kind of vanilla that does not ask for attention because it already has it.
As the fragrance settles, the composition smooths into a rich amber and woody base with soft leathery undertones. The sweetness remains controlled, natural, and refined, leaning more toward polished wood and warm skin than sugar and frosting. It is enveloping without being heavy and sensual without ever trying too hard.
Performance is impeccably mannered, offering around eight to ten hours of wear. Projection is noticeable early on, then gracefully retreats closer to the skin, creating a refined and intimate presence. This is not a fragrance that chases compliments. It simply allows them to arrive on their own.
Vanille Havane is for those who love vanilla but prefer it dressed in tailored clothing rather than pajamas. It shines in the evening, in cooler weather, and in moments where smelling quietly expensive is part of the brief. Confident, cultured, and subtly indulgent, this is vanilla with a passport and excellent taste.

A delicious dark vanilla draped in tobacco and woods. It feels baroque yet wearable, with warmth that clings to skin like candlelight on velvet.

A true depiction of real vanilla

Hoooo Lordy. Now this is the vanilla to end all vanillas. It starts off very boozy but that settles quite quickly. This is not a gourmand vanilla but instead a boozy resinous version of what true vanilla actually smells like. Perfection.

As expected

Not a bad scent. Description is pretty accurate. Reminded me a little of bumbu rum. Its a deep scent that doesn't overpower but is definitely noticeable. Scent does fade as expected but absolutely lasts all day.
