Nose Dive: The Essential Synthetics of Modern Perfumery, 26 March

This Nose Dive Workshop is a primer to the key synthetics that have shaped modern perfumery. It offers participants a rare opportunity to smell the material building blocks of fine fragrance, sourced from the finest industry manufacturers - of which many are proprietary products. These are materials rarely encountered outside the perfumer’s organ.

The session mixes a unique blend of history, chemistry, and hands-on demonstration in an interactive, approachable, and social format. It considers the importance of synthetic ingredients, including Akigalawood, ISO E Super, and Cashmeran. Through guided smelling and discussion, we unpack how these materials behave on their own, and how perfumers use them to create structure, contrast, and expression within a composition.

It brings together like-minded individuals eager to make sense of what they smell in an intimate setting. Curiosity and questions are warmly encouraged. It is suitable for those new to perfumery and aficionados alike: no prior perfume knowledge, or an understanding of technical chemistry, is required.
