The original L’Humaniste was made in 2009, just before boutique gins had properly arrived on the scene. And now, with L’Humaniste Extreme, we discover a fragrance more developed in character, coloured with deeper tones. The effervescent freshness of the original remains, holding back from its cut of tonic water (or vermouth, take your pick) - embracing more resinous and woody profiles. Its intense herbal profile, viscous and liqueur-like, lends bitterness and rounded fruitiness, like an extraction from the hard skins of citrus fruits and quince. While a complex of woody spices and chypric notes imagines a gin aged in oak barrels. Indeed, L’Humaniste Extreme is a gin to be savoured, served in a snifter than a tall Collins glass. Impressions of liquorice, bitter lemon, orris root, and cut grass are to be found. On wear, it offers a long-lasting and developed freshness.
