Parfum d'Empire Azemour Les Orangers Eau de Parfum

$19900

This fresh, timeless chypre plays on all the facets of the orange tree: the sparkling zest and sunny flesh of the fruit, the dark green of the leaves, the honeyed sweetness of the flower, the force of the wood. But the word “amour” which nests in Azemour also expresses the perfumer’s deep love for the land where he was born, and this fragrance is an evocation of the Moroccan landscape with its dunes, wild grass and orange groves.

Description

Fragrance Family:
Citrus (Chypre)

Notes:
Orange, Clementine, Mandarin, Neroli, Coriander Seed, Cumin, Orange Blossom Absolute, Hay, Henna, Oakmoss

Concentration:
Eau de Parfum

Occasion:
The bright distinction of orange - a smiling fragrance, dressed in mosses and spice to lend it complexity. Achingly classical and profound, a must have citrus-chypre!

Perfumer’s Inspiration:
"Azemour Les Orangers is the memory of horse rides in the parent's orange grove in Morocco, a huge orangery in which I was born and raised, located in the region of Azemmour - a small town, and one of the oldest in Morocco, on the edge of the ocean and surrounded by ramparts. Azemmour, the name of the city, is written with two m's, but to find the word 'amour' better, I took the liberty of removing one in the name of this perfume. I wanted to gather all the facets of the orange tree, the sparkling freshness of the zest of the fruit, the juiciness of the flesh, the sweetness of the flower, the dark green of the leaf, and the depth of its wood. It wasn't an easy exercise. I tried to get a fragrance that would come out in a particular light: at the end of the day in this orange grove, a golden-blonde light, which remains engraved in my memory - stretching along a wadi to the ocean. Azemour is a memory of a happy childhood and adolescence in the kingdom of Morocco. It is a very personal project, and I hesitated to release it. A landscape perfume -  the story of a lost paradise, perhaps regained a little in this fragrance." (Marc-Antoine Corticchiato)

EDITOR'S NOTES

A marriage of citrus and chypre profiles, it’s possible to read these separately, or together. It will first appeal to lovers of the orange citrus fruit. Here it is still attached to the tree, as the fruit twinkles and its leaves rustle in response to the elements. A substantial freshness, it rises and falls, level with the earth and the heavens alike. It is juicy and rounded, festooned in spiced moss and hay. Its chypre profile is revealed - this orange fruit is tweaked all over with peppery and biting spices, sharp greens, and a shadowy camouflage. It is naturalistic at all times, subtle yet apparent; languorous in the low evening light, amongst the rows of trees in the Moroccan orange grove. Its combination of cologne-like freshness and aromatic aftershave chypre gives Azemour Les Orangers a dramatic retro feeling.
