Proraso Pre-Shave Cream: Refreshing, 100ml

A good shaving cream is good but Proraso pre-shave cream takes it to the next level. Smells like Vicks Vapoprub and while it mightn't open your nasal passages it certainly seems to open all the pores on your skin to make for an amazing shave. Works well on tought beards too.

I just had my first ever DE shave with this -- not one cut!

This should be part of everyone's wet shaving routine.

Effective as a pre-shave, the light cooling cuts into thick and unforgiving stubble when applied liberally, gently massaged in and covered with a very hot towel for a minute or two. The smell puts you in mind of an old barber, vintage and simple.

As a post-shave, I would lean towards something more focused like a dedicated aftershave balm or splash, but it's lingering cooling sensation is a lovely feeling.

I'm keen to try the other scents.

This stuff has been around for a very long time - and it's not hard to see why.

Proraso is great, especially after shaving, it makes my face feel fresh and cool, smells nice too.

A good smell and refreshing pre-shave experience. Although a hot water face wash seems to return similar results. Haven't tried as an after shave.

This stuff is great. I chuck it on straight out of the shower and leave it for a few minutes while I dry off, fill the sink and heat my bowl. Then I wash about 2/3 of it off and get to work. I have tried two other pre-shave products and I have noticeably worse shaves if I use anything but Proraso green. I haven't had a nick in months and almost never get any irritation anymore. I have sensitive skin and shave three passes six days a week with Astra SP or Feather blades.

Awesome pre-shave that softens the beard and feels great on the skin. Wouldn't even attempt a shave without having some of this stuff to hand. Buy it.

This pre-shave cream is great and helps my razor glide over my skin when i apply it before the proraso soap. Its strong menthol scent helps wake me up in the morning and feels refreshing on my skin.

I love using the Proraso Pre Shave cream before & after a shave as it gives a nice refreshing feel to the skin. I never get shaving rash since using this and sharp blades.

This is an excellent pre-shave cream that will soothe and soften the skin before shaving but this can also be used after shaving.

The first thing you should notice is the fragrance and it's a strong menthol/eucalyptus odour, much stronger than the Proraso green shaving cream. If you like the smell of menthol and eucalyptus, you will love this pre-shave cream. If you don't, then probably best not to buy this because the odour is strong.

This is a great pre and post-shave cream, heavily recommended for those who love the smell of menthol and eucalyptus.

Without a doubt it's made it into my must haves for wet shaving. It works beautifully in softening my skin for a close shave and smells, fresh to match.
Nothing really compares the feeling after shave with this product.

I use this for its refreshing cooling effect before applying my shaving cream. Of all the shaving creams I have used on top of it everything has complimented nicely and I get great shaves using this stuff, definitely worth a try

This leaves your skin refreshed and gives you a strong menthol kick with a tingle. Try to apply it then use a hot towel over it, the steam plus the cream work well together to soften the beard, I could go on and on, try it... Thank me later :)

This has known skin irritating ingredients that make it unsuitable for either pre- or post-shave applications: Benzyl Alcohol & Phenoxyethanol, both preservatives.

Few areas in the world of wet shaving are as contentious and reflective of personal taste as pre-shave products. Some are convinced that a good application of hot water before the shave, combined with a quality shaving cream, is all that is required for a smooth shave. Others insist that pre-shave products can make a massive difference in the overall experience.

While there's no question pre-shave products are an area one should explore to see what floats one's boat, this product may not be the one of choice when dipping your toe into the waters. A good pre-shave product will ensure there's a nice layer of lubrication sitting under the shave cream, allowing the razor to glide more smoothly over your skin. Most pre-shave products are oil based, but this product is somewhat akin to a slightly powdery cream. It's gets fairly rapidly absorbed and provides marginal if not questionable lubrication during the shave.

Notice how quite often it's referred to as a "post" shave cream, even though the box only refers to it as pre-shave? That's because it's actually more effective as an after shave balm than anything to do with pre-shave lubrication.

There's some good options out there for pre-shave treatments, such as a light application of glycerine based soaps such as Mr Glo (Musgo Real GLycerine sOap). Ultimately it'll provide better value for money and do a much better job. I'd recommend giving that a shot over attempting to use this post-shave balm as a pre-shave treatment.

I have only been wet shaving for a few weeks and I'm so glad to have included this pre shave cream in my order!
It has a great menthol smell that helps to wake me up each morning and I use this with the Proraso shaving soap to have a great shave.
I also use a small amount after shaving to give a refreshing smell throughout the day.
One time I thought I'd try a shave without using this product before shaving and on my first stroke, I could feel it was more harsh on my beard. I'll always be using this stuff to get the best shave.
You must try it to understand how great it is!

i've used this both before & after shaves and i like it both ways but prefer after. pre, it can be used under a hot towel. post, it can be used after the alum block. smells great imho.

I got this when I was new to wet shaving and noticed a difference almost immediately. It helped to soften the beard and gave a soothing cool feeling during and after the shave.

This jar has lasted me quite a long time, when it runs out I plan on buying the larger size.

Like others have said, although the name on the tin says it's a pre shave cream, it works excellently post shave as well. A small amount will go a surprisingly long way during your pre shave routine and the cool menthol flavour will soften up your whiskers and, coupled with the cream or soap of your choice, you'll have no problem in achieving a lovely smooth shave. Post shave, after a quick rinse with cold water, the cream's cooling effect on the face is very satisfying and after a few minutes i put on some moisturizer and my face feels like a dream.
