The primary tobacco feature of Tabac Vert is a pastiche for a bygone traditional elegance, restoring to the note a sense of refinement - as opposed to veering into the downright salacious. It respects the natural complexity of this fermented, caramelised, and dried material, with green, floral, and vegetal tones all developing throughout wear. It makes evident that tobacco is a complex ingredient, and relies upon the work of the perfumer to give it structured form and inflection. In Tabac Vert, the prominent amber-coumarin warmth of the note works itself through a weave of clean and soapy aromas, additionally sharing the pepper and clove notes of spicy carnation flower. Blended with cedar, the scratchy surface of this wood seamlessly merges with the crinkly texture of tobacco leaf, redoubling its presence and impact.
