Tauer Incense Rose Eau de Parfum

My love affair with Incense Rose takes me back to my travels in Malaysia where the scents and flavours of nutmeg, lime and cola give this perfume an extension of lift and height. These notes are grounded by the soft rose and luxurious incense that's dustiness is not reminiscent of old cupboard, but grand halls of Churches. It an all-season, all-occasion signature scent. Thank you to the fragrance editor Liam, for uniting me with this scent.

Incense Rose: It's interesting how the supporting notes make the rose smell quite vegetal at first, but this develops and smooths out quite quickly. Sweet, smokey, bright... It's not as strong as incense extreme, but it's not as sombre either. The notes here actually come across as idyllic and relatively light despite the presence of castoreum and several resins. Can incense get more cheerful than this? Wearing it feels like the first sunny day after weeks of rain.

Bright, sparkly, fizzy rose with citrus, spice, dark resins and incense. I'm usually not a huge fan of rose in fragrance, but the rose here isn't heavy or overpowering, it's blended so well with the other notes and produces the most intoxicating complex smell that projects and lasts. I have more than 100 fragrances in my collection. This is my favourite, by a long shot. Perfection. The interplay between the head notes stirs my memories. I’m in a Catholic Church, surrounded by women wearing rose absolute and men wearing citrus colognes. And then their’s me, wafting woods. Taken together, in one whiff, is Incense Rose.

Have been wearing this perfume for 20 years and without fail I get compliments on it every time I wear it.
