Tauer L'Air des Alpes Suisses or 'Air of the Swiss Alps' is an invitation to explore the wonderful scenery of the Swiss Alps: its lush green meadows and dark fir forests with the perfume of warm amber. It encapsulates the wild flowers that bloom higher up in the open space, the herbaceous, spicy perfume of the alpine grassland, with hints of lily and orchids, mixed with the fresh breeze from the rough mountain summits.

It opens with a green liqueur-like top note reminiscent of green meadows and bitter alpine herbs, quickly transitioning into the promised olfactory landscape of the Swiss Alps. It's like warm ambery sunlight falling on rough granite ground and dry earth, ascending from a verdant picture of pine forests into that of mountains, cool glacial air, and a light covering of snow. The result is a pleasing tension between creaminess and cool spices. L'Air des Alpes Suisse is an exposition of bright and fresh natural Swiss beauty.

Lavender and pine are some of my favourite scents

Lavender and pine are some of my favourite scents but Tauer have magically woven them into a blend of mossy goodness that is so sophisticated and elevated from what we've come to expect from what some may consider 'senior' scents. Extremely pleasant to wear throughout the day without offending others' air space, and the high quality of the ingredients are immediately known; the scent journey is wonderful as it matures on your wrist.

I don't normally like 'green' or 'fresh' fragrances but this somehow captures another element with the addition of Amber to provide greater depth to a really great synthesis of perfume materials. I might also add that Tauer replied almost instantly when I reached out to check if civet is used in any formula; very pleased to say it is not an ingredient they use in any of their perfume collection!

A wonderful synthetic melange of alpine approximation. Designer mass appeal with niche quality ingredients. Familiar but somehow unique. Andy Tauer is a master of fragrance.
