The name of this fragrance initially sends you in a different direction from where the fragrance actually goes, because amber and oud are only part of the story. At its heart, Amber Oud is an aromatic composition with a strong fougere undertone, characteristic of Mme. Nicolaï’s olfactory signature. Patchouli is enriched with lavender, cedar, then surrounded by bitter herbs. Artemisia gives it a wonderfully retro masculine character, settling over a powdery amber note that intensifies the effect.

But that’s not where it ends. Leathery, almost animalic facets come forward, and a low hum of musk, set against this fougère-like accord, At the same time, saffron nudges the mind towards agarwood, creating an entirely different association. Oud here is a fantasy, built from darkening materials with distinctive signature.
