Perfumer’s Inspiration:
Edwardian dandies scented themselves with fougere, a classic fragrance family based on lavender, tonka bean and oak moss. Fougere Bengale revisits the genre with a powerful, honeyed blond tobacco accord, and carries us off to India.

Assam tea and warm gingerbread notes blend with tobacco, whose tawny aroma conjures both English clubs and the savannah where the Bengal tiger lurks. An old-style elegance gives way to the smells of the savannah, carried by the sweet aromas of hay and tonka bean extracts. Then we dive into the Indian jungle on the trail of animalic, mossy and woody notes. Patchouli, once used to protect cashmere shawls during their trip to Europe, suffuses the scent with its woody, camphoraceous aroma; vanilla adds its silky touch. And the journey to the land of the Bengal tiger ends in the palace of a maharajah.

Golden brown scintillations, Fougere Bengale brings heat to the classic aromatic accord of lavender, tonka bean, patchouli, and oakmoss. Scorched ferns and mosses extracted of their moisture: the air around these materials is dry, bathing in sunlight and resting on baked earth. This barbershop is situated in the savannah plains of India, where everything caramelises - the anisic freshness of fennel and immortelle turn dark like liquorice molasses and treacle, emphasised with the sweet warmth of honey, tonka bean, and vanilla. Assam tea adds a newfound dryness to the traditional lavender heart of the fougere, sapping it while adding depth in the base - finding its herbal and earthy and balsamic complement in blond tobacco and patchouli. Fougere Bengale is immediately evocative of the sensation of warmth, sunshine carried along a dry heat, stored in the rock and grasses of this wild landscape.
