There’s no mistaking that Tauer is a seasoned perfumer, with honed senses and a keen understanding of his materials. The name could not be any more perfect. Patch Absolue showcases the total character of the material, and Tauer has allowed the material to express itself, modulating it in places, giving it sequence and development. In Patch Absolue, the namesake note is emphatically woody, and then boozy. Rich lacquered shades of brown opens the fragrance, smoothly spiced in places - a prick of clove, a hum of cinnamon - growing richer and darker, as patchouli assumes centre stage with perfect proportions. Underneath, the note is warmed with resins, amber, and fine sandalwood, imparting a dim glow. The fragrance is focused, and deeply satisfying.
