Toskovat’ turns to the feminine classic in Hoary Date, which begs the question: who (or what) does David-Lev have in mind? There is much to be drawn from a name, suggesting a juxtaposition of time, tradition, and perhaps outdated notions. Something wise with age, signified in this nostalgic flowery chypre structure, undergirded with powerful animalics and resins. An aroma captured in the embrace of a hug, or the sharp fizzle and tang of aldehydes blended with plum, neroli, and muguet. Certain flowers start a dreaming in us: heliotrope, wisteria, mimosa, narcissus - memories of echoes and their resonance, tender memories of things we have almost forgotten.
