The delight of all natural materials is especially apparent in Comme Un Gant, which employs a beautiful quality of sandalwood that one is all too happy to succumb to. It understands the central contrast between dry woodiness and milky creaminess, building this contradictory effect and achieving a beguiling lusciousness. Creaminess ultimately wins, emphasised with a natural coconut note with a light peachiness, carrying through the body of the scent with its slightly oily, fatty, and fruity qualities. But the dryness never disappears - which becomes the sturdy, reassuring ground of the fragrance. One smells both at once in this trompe l'oeil, and the sandalwood bursts from the scene. It has the feeling of suede, ‘comme un gant’ [like a glove], preciously scented with orris and vetiver, cradling the scent.
