Olibanum Perfume

View as

Olibanum — frankincense resin from the Boswellia tree — is one of perfumery's most ancient and revered materials. Its character is unmistakably resinous: dry, slightly woody, with a subtle brightness that feels almost citric. There's a ceremonial quality to it, a sense of ritual and restraint that makes olibanum perfume immediately recognisable.

In fragrance, olibanum brings structure and depth. It anchors brighter notes with quiet nobility, adds a smoky-warm undertone to florals, and lends an almost meditative quality to compositions. It is rarely the loudest voice — instead, it creates a sophisticated backdrop that invites closer attention and rewards contemplation.

Olibanum fragrances tend toward the refined and contemplative: spiced, slightly austere, with excellent longevity. They suit those drawn to understated elegance and the kind of scent that unfolds slowly rather than announces itself.
